WHAT IS "STOCK MUSIC"?
Stock music is music that was composed and created for the purpose of being used in a creative medium (film, video, podcast, etc).

But why is it "stock"? Because stock is the opposite of "custom".

Custom music for your film or video would undoubtedly be the best fit... but more often than not, custom music takes a long time to create, and the costs of doing so can skyrocket really fast depending on the composer and the scale of the project.

So stock music serves to meet the needs of filmmakers who want music that fits their project well, without having to hire a composer to create custom music, saving the filmmaker tons of time and money in the process.
I'VE HEARD STOCK MUSIC REFERRED TO AS "ROYALTY-FREE"... WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
For royalty-free music to exist, that means there is also music which is NOT royalty-free. Every time music that is NOT royalty-free is played in a video, the songwriter/publisher earns royalties (read: cold, hard cash) because they are the ones who own the song.

Depending on the popularity of the artist or song, this can get REALLY expensive, REALLY fast.

But with royalty-free music, you pay a single fee to download the music, and now have license to use the music in any manner you'd like without having to pay the songwriter/publisher. Royalty-free = no royalties!
DOES ROYALTY-FREE STOCK MUSIC REALLY SAVE ME MONEY?
Yes it does! Royalty-free stock music eliminates a lot of the complicated stuff about using music in videos.

Instead of trying to figure out royalties, you are charged a clear and simple one-time fee to use royalty-free music. This payment covers the usage of that music for the entire life of the video project you include it in, with zero additional charges. Simple!

Plus, since the music is "stock" instead of custom, you don't need to hire a composer to create custom music, including any additional charges for time overages and edits.

High-quality stock music really is a lifesaver!
CAN'T I JUST USE MY FAVORITE SONGS THAT I'VE ALREADY PURCHASED IN ITUNES?
No... and here's why.

If you read the fine print in your iTunes agreement, you are paying per song for "Personal Use" (i.e. you listen to the music at home, on your own device). "Public/Commercial Use", such as including in videos (whether for a small or large audience), is not covered when you buy single songs online.

In other words, it's actually illegal for you to use a song you've simply downloaded in iTunes as a soundtrack for your film or video. Why? Because the songwriter and artist won't earn their deserved royalties if you do so.

Also, online video sites (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) have algorithms that listen for copyrighted music and will mute your video if you use illegal music (or worse, ban you from their site!). It happens on a daily basis... don't be one of them!
WHAT DO I GET WHEN I PURCHASE A SOUNDTRACK BUNDLE?
When you purchase a Soundtrack Bundle, you will receive 6-8 full sets of film-industry-standard audio files (48k 24-bit WAV files, to be exact!) available for immediate download upon completion of purchase.

Every one of the songs in each Soundtrack Bundle includes a Full Version, a 60 Second Cut and 30 Second Cut, and 1-3 Loops that can be looped indefinitely to fit your project.

In addition, several songs include Short Versions (in between the Full Version and 60 Second Cut), as well as multiple versions of the 60 Second Cut according to style.

We also include high-quality MP3 versions of all of the Bundled songs so that you can still work with great music even if you're running out of hard drive space to store the WAV files.
WAIT... WHAT TYPE OF AUDIO FILES DO I RECEIVE WHEN I MAKE A PURCHASE?
Coresound audio files are delivered as 48k/24-bit WAV files - the gold standard of today's video production. Every one of our files, from full versions to short loop-sections, are the same high-quality WAV files format.
HOW LONG IS EACH SONG?
A typical piece of stock music averages between 2-4 minutes, which is what you will find in much of our catalog. Some of our more cinematic & ambient pieces can range up to 6 minutes.

The Full Version of each song varies, but do remember that you also receive many other song-lengths with each Soundtrack Bundle, including a 60 Second Cut, a 30 Second Cut, 1-3 loop sections for indefinite looping, and any other alternate versions or lengths. Pick the perfect length for your project!
DO I NEED TO INCLUDE YOU IN MY FILM CREDITS?
It is not necessary to include Coresound in the credits in your video. If you share the video online and deem it appropriate, we always appreciate being linked in the liner notes and sending people our direction, but it is not necessary to do so.
CAN I ONLY USE THE MUSIC IN A VIDEO, OR CAN I USE IT ELSEWHERE?
Your license allows you to use our music in any broadcast platform as part of a final media project (including film, TV, podcasts, apps, games, etc).
IS THERE AN ADDITIONAL COST FOR BROADCASTING?
There are no additional costs for broadcasting. You are covered!
WHO OWNS THE MUSIC?
All works included in our site's content and any services offered, including music, graphics, and photos are protected by copyright and the intellectual property rights of Coresound LLC.

In other words, by purchasing a Soundtrack Bundle, you are purchasing a license to use the music within your projects, but the ownership of the music stays with Coresound.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU ADD NEW MUSIC TO THE CORESOUND CATALOG?
We are always working on new material and update the site regularly. We will release more music by Collection (i.e. twelve Soundtrack Bundles at a time) and are currently working on Collection III which will be released as soon as it's available.
CAN I MAKE A REQUEST FOR A CERTAIN STYLE OF SONG OR VIDEO TYPE TO BE CREATED?
Absolutely you can! We are always creating more music to serve you, and would love to take your suggestions on ideas for our "creation pipeline" to be used at a later date. Contact us to begin the conversation.
CAN YOU CREATE CUSTOM MUSIC FOR MY PROJECT?
